Lovely or awful spring?

The snow is melting, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the long-awaited summer is here. Wonderful! But: street dust is blowing, pollen is floating, eyes are itchy, coughing and noses are stuffy. For allergy and asthma sufferers, spring can be a terrible time. Especially if you happen to be an outdoor person. Antihistamines, inhalers and drops can provide some relief, but not all the symptoms and can even dry out your body and mucous membranes unnecessarily. So you have to find new ways of treating yourself to enjoy the outdoors, cycling and sunshine.

Breathing exercises to help

This spring, I decided that I had tried all other methods and needed a sensible solution to get this right, so that I could enjoy the outdoors without worrying about my breath! I had read a lot about the Wello device and my doctor recommended it to me. I myself have been suffering from asthma for a long time and sometimes it gets so bad that I have to forget about going outdoors and take it easy when my bronchial tubes become inflamed from external stimuli - and that's also annoying for an active person. At worst, I have suffered from successive pneumonias over the summer because I have not always been able to pinpoint the cause of the irritation.

The spirit led to action and now I've been priming the airways since March for the coming spring. I have been breathing with Wello in the mornings at home and at work in the evenings before group exercise classes. After just one breathing session, I realised that my airways had opened up! I felt like I had increased my oxygen intake capacity in one fell swoop. The longer I've been using the device, the more I've noticed that the constant stickiness has decreased, I breathe more easily and I don't wheeze as easily as before.

I have also managed to prevent the onset of one infection and asthma exacerbation altogether by inhaling menthol vapour, which I received as tablets with the device, for the initial symptoms. The rest of the family suffered from the flu for a couple of weeks, but I survived completely without infection. Wello's warm steam activates a defence reaction in the mucous membranes, which helps to destroy pathogens. The benefits are unbelievable! My 9-year-old child also tried Wello with her own mouthpiece and said she no longer coughed up a cold at night when she steamed with the device at night before bed. The device comes with several mouthpieces and instructions on how to disinfect the device between users, so one Wello benefits the whole family.

Respiratory training - not just for athletes

As a coach, I was of course particularly interested in its respiratory training properties, in addition to the treatment of the symptoms. In particular, endurance athletes such as runners, skiers, marathoners and others in need of aerobic endurance benefit from using the device. Blowing into the adjustable back pressure of the device increases exhalation and inhalation strength, stimulates blood flow to the respiratory muscles, reduces stress on the body and improves overall well-being, as well as helping to adopt a deep breathing technique that has a positive impact on well-being. These are all benefits for everyone, not just those who train with a sense of purpose.

Who wouldn't want to fight infections and avoid unnecessary sickness if there is preventive exercise? Fortunately, there is now an awakening to the fact that by exercising the body in different ways, we can prevent and avoid drug treatments that treat acute symptoms but rarely cure any long-term illness. In fact, the response to ongoing, regular medication may even be compromised by prolonged treatment. Through preventive exercise and taking responsibility for our own well-being, we can avoid even expensive drugs and surgery, many joint and back problems, and lifestyle diseases such as metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or respiratory diseases.

Why Wello?

I myself have been able, since starting training with Wello, to significantly reduce the use of the formerly so abundant opening and mucus releasing medications in the spring. My own breathing, both inhalation and exhalation, has improved significantly based on the tracking measurements from the MyBreath accessory and the Wello app, and I have been able to increase my resistance as a result of the training. The device has given me the help I was hoping for and I highly recommend it to all exercisers and asthmatics.
