In summer, relaxation and holidays are usually on the mind. Exercising and going to the gym may not motivate you in the heat, when the alternative is to go to the cottage or the beach. If you don't feel like exercising in the summer, don't feel guilty about it.
Stay active
In the winter frosts and chilly weather, we spend more time indoors, which makes going to the gym feel nice and refreshing. In summer, we naturally move and spend more time outdoors. We are more active without realising it and we accumulate more useful physical activity more easily.
Nowadays, people might think that a little hobby or other activity does not count as exercise, but that you have to go out and exercise separately to be able to say that you have exercised. This is a mindset that should be scrapped by now at the latest! All activity counts, including playing with children, cleaning and gardening.
If you have a smartwatch that measures your activity, you can easily view your activity with the watch. You might be surprised how easy it is to get full of activity just by doing something. If the watch tells you that you've reached your activity level, there's no need for a separate workout.
Fast-paced quick workouts also work in the summer. Try a quick workout while the sauna is warming up: heat up the sauna and work out while you wait. Use filled buckets of water as weights and do the backbends while you add wood to the firebox.
Enjoy the summer and make the most of the warm weather. Go for a bike ride or a walk into town, go swimming and play on the beach with your kids or friends. Make the most of the little opportunities to be active: take the stairs and walk short distances with a pedicab.
