HYROX – what is it all about?

HYROX is a simple, effective, and extremely engaging form of training that combines endurance, strength, and functional training. The sport is suitable for everyone, as the exercise sequences do not require technically challenging movements. This makes HYROX an accessible yet effective form of exercise.

This workout challenges:

  • endurance fitness
  • strength
  • body control
  • strength of mind

And best of all: people of different fitness levels can train together, from young to older exercisers and from beginners to experienced athletes, each at their own level and with their own goals.

HYROX isn't just a workout, it's also a fun, social, and motivating way to exercise.
The sport is hugely popular around the world, and now you can train HYROX locally here in Espoo!

Who knows, maybe someday we'll even go on a group trip to a competition!

Hyrox classes and workouts

At LadyLine Lippulaiva , you can train with three different HYROX classes: HYROX Foundation, HYROX Power, and HYROX Engine. The classes are designed to comprehensively develop the skills needed for HYROX training: technique, strength, and endurance with different emphases.

HYROX Foundation is a versatile class that combines cardio, strength, and functional training in a balanced way. It is well suited for both new and more experienced exercisers who want to develop their endurance and overall performance.

HYROX Power focuses more on strength and muscle endurance. The class includes fewer running sections and more power-intensive elements that develop maximum strength, explosiveness, and muscle endurance.

HYROX Engine focuses on endurance, aerobic capacity, and continuity of movement. The class includes more running and heart rate-raising sections, as well as lighter work periods with a higher number of repetitions, which improve cardiovascular fitness.

A guided HYROX training session lasts 45–60 minutes.

The training is carried out as a functional whole, combining running, endurance training, and muscle strength exercises. The following equipment and exercises are used in the training sessions: 

  • Running, treadmill
  • Rowing machine and skiing machine
  • Sled (push and pull)
  • Kettlebells (carrying movements and lifts)
  • Sandbag, step squats, and step squat walks
  • Wall ball, or throwing a ball against a wall
  • Bodyweight exercises, such as squats and burpees
  • The exercises are varied, and depending on the workout, other equipment may also be used.

The movements and loads are scaled according to the participant's level, making HYROX training suitable for both beginners and more experienced exercisers.

How does HYROX differ from other workouts?

 

HYROX differs from CrossFit and other functional training in the following ways:

  • The emphasis is on running and endurance
  • The movements are technically simple.
  • Does not include demanding weightlifting or gymnastics movements
  • The competition format is standardized: the same movements, repetitions, and distances in all events.

This means that you can always strive to achieve your best time, whether you are competing against yourself or others.

When can I start?

HYROX training sessions at LadyLine Espoo – Lippulaiva will begin on January 13, 2026. You can join at any time and start with any class. There are no prerequisites for participation.

HYROX training sessions require a HYROX membership or a single-use ticket.

HYROX classes will appear in the group exercise calendar one week in advance.

How much does HYROX cost?

The following membership types include 2 hours of guided HYROX training per week:

Student discount –€10/month on full-day memberships. 

You can also participate in HYROX classes with a single-visit ticket.
A single visit to a HYROX class costs €12 for non-customers. For LadyLine Lippulaiva customers, the price for a single visit is €6. You can purchase a single-visit ticket from our online store, and the reservation details will be sent to your email address.

Can I participate in HYROX competitions?

Yes! HYROX also offers the opportunity to compete – but you can train for the sport without any competitive pressure.

HYROX competitions are:

  • large and international
  • the same standard worldwide
  • open to fitness enthusiasts of all levels

You can participate in competitions as an individual, a pair, or a team. The series are divided according to age and fitness level, so you can participate with a variety of goals.

There are not yet official HYROX competitions in every city in Finland, but as licensed HYROX centers, we can organize HYROX simulations and training events that also prepare participants for future competitions.
